Don’t Say
“Mommy, don’t say no when I ask to play Wii.”
Maybe tomorrow
“I can’t see Santa right now. I have a headache.”
(After trying to get Billy to go see Santa at the mall today when there was no line.)
You know that song…
One of the most listened to CDs in our car is the Primary CD that our ward’s Primary Presidency put together for the children to get them ready for the program that was in October. This CD is one of Billy’s favorites and he has several songs that he likes us to play over and over. I often hear his sweet voice singing I love to see the Temple and If the Savior Stood beside me. Those are his two favorites, but he added another song to that list. As we were waiting for Bill to come out to the car, Billy said I want to listen to the song about the dark clowns. I told him I didn’t know any song about dark clowns. He said you know that song…. when dark clowns of trouble hang o’er us. That’s when I figured it out. Any guesses? We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet. If you see me at church laughing while singing that song, you’ll know why.
Donuts
Billy: “Mommy, what are you eating?”
Mommy: “Donut holes.”
Billy: “You can’t eat donut holes. Those are only for boys. Your tummy will hurt.”
Girls and Ladies
Billy: “Look at your fingernails.”
Mommy: “I can have long fingernails. I’m a girl.”
Billy: “You’re not a girl. You’re a lady.”
Kids and Girls
Bebe: “We’re going to the store and Billy is going to buy me something this time.”
Mommy: “Yeah, Billy. Maybe Bebe wants a toy.”
Billy: “No, only kids and girls want toys. Not ladies.”
Stay or Go
Bebe: “I am going to the store to get a few things.’
Billy: “I want to go. Can I go?”
Bebe: “You can go, but I am not buying any toys.”
Billy: “I think I will just stay home.”
Fall Colors
“There’s colors on that green mountain.”
(An observation Billy made while driving in Shenandoah National Park.)
School, Part II
Billy : “I want to go to school today!”
Mommy: “You can’t go today because you are sick. You can go tomorrow.”
Billy: “I don’t want to go to school tomorrow. I want to go today!”
