We put our tree up over a week ago with no decorations. We wanted Baden to get use to it. He was so excited about the lights. We have a contraption that plugs into the lights that allows us to turn the lights on and off with a touch of a button. After the Christmas was put up and we admired it as much as one can admire a tree without decorations, we turned out the lights and got the boys ready for bed. Right before bed, I couldn’t find Baden. I found him sitting on the floor in the living room by the tree. He smiled at me very innocently and then touched the button and on came the lights. Something new he has figured out. On Sunday night, we started decorating the tree. As Billy placed his beloved Superman ornament on along with the Tom and Jerry ornament that Bebe and Grandpa got him, Baden was soaking it all in. I figured I would decorate the whole tree even the bottom so I took out some needlepoint canvas ornaments that Bill’s grandma made and put those around the bottom portion. Then I took out my favorite ornaments, the gingerbread men, and allowed Baden to hang those. He was so excited. Then he decided it would be fun to pull one of them off. Then he thought better of it and threw it on the tree. It landed perfectly on one of the branches. What a novel idea – throwing the ornaments on the tree. I recommend this only if the ornaments are cloth which the gingerbread men, thankfully, are. On a side note, the gingerbread men are gingham and I got them in a gift exchange when I was in kindergarten. I was quite upset about this present, but as I got older I realized that I would have these for a long time and the gifts the other kids got that day have been in a landfill for a very long time. So, our Christmas tree is decorated and Baden has pulled a few ornaments off the tree, but he leaves them on the floor in the living room so clean up is easy. I didn’t put all the ornaments up so the tree may look a little sparse, but it’s eclectic just the way I like it.
I love the tree!!! It looks just perfect the way it is. Baden hasn’t done a badly as first thought and that is good. I love the pictures too.
